The 2015 Municipal Elections are the elections being held in Brunant in 2015 to determine the election of mayors and local councils. Elections are being held in the summer and fall. Elections will be held in Koningstad, Cape Cross, Grunbeck, Martensdorp, Sint-Willemstad and Brezonde.
History[]
The first elections of 2015 were the Martensdorp election in the summer, and Green Party won the majority of the votes. In Brezonde, Avanze and the Greens both won eight seats, but the Green Party eventually ended up supporting the SDP candidate for mayor, Karen House.
In Cape Cross, 40% of the vote went to the Social Democratic Party and Gert Henneman became mayor of the town. Brezonde saw Esquedra Republicana na Barzona garner 30% of the vote to lead in the election, but with 6 candidates participating there was little consensus, and as of early May 2016 (190 days later) there has been no one candidate with enough support to replace outgoing mayor Martha Andona.
In Sint-Willemstad, the Green Party took a majority of the votes.
