Antonio Ribas y Hasselman (1640-1711) was a Brunanter painter of the late renissance age. He is considered one of the finest early Brunanter painters, along with Rickard Helsenberg and contemporary Carels Van Laesburg. Hasselman was well supported by Karl Van Draak as a court painter.

Biography

Hasselman was born in Sevilla around 1640 to a penniless musician and his wife. His father died shortly after and he was living in Brunant with his mother. Hasselman's mother was married to a painter who was Hasselman's tutor.

Hasselman began painting in the early 1660s. By the mid-1670s he was painting for the King of Brunant and was given royal patronage in 1678.

His paintings are in many museums like National Museum of Art and the Art Museum of Juliana.
