Vandervelde in 2011

Eric Vandervelde (born 1 August 1984) is a Brunanter cyclist of Belgian origin. Vandervelde is one of the most successful male cyclists in Brunanter history, as well as a two-time champion of the Tour Brunant event.

Biography[]

Eric Vandervelde was born in Koningstad to a Belgian father and Brunanter mother. His father, Gilles, was passionate about cycling, but was never a career cyclist. He did encourage his son to participate in biking events, seeing real talent in him.

Vandervelde began participating in and winning some local tournaments, attracting the eye of some professional cyclists. He joined professional team OIVP Cycle in 2006. With OIVP, he won the Tour Brunant race in 2008 and 2011. Vandervelde announced his retirement for after the 2019 ACW Tour.
