Football-Club Koning Pieter II (FC Pieter II) is a Brunanter football club playing in the Second League. It is located in Sint-Anders. They were an important club in the 1920s and 1930s, but are no longer a major force in football.
History[]
Pieter II was founded in 1891 as the second organized football club in Brunant, two years after the creation of the (amateur) Manchester Cape Cross F.C.. It was named in honor of the reigning monarch, King Pieter II. The club participated in the inaugural AFC tournament but did not win it. Their heyday was in the late 1920s and early 1930s, where they finished second in 1928 and 1930, and first in 1929 and 1931. They would never again have a top-5 finish, except for a third victory in 1969. In 2011-12 Pieter II was relegated to the 2. Liga after coming in second-to-last.
In the 2012-13 Second League, the club struggled and could only finish in seventh place. The club improved in 2013-14 but again only finished in fifth place. The 2014-15 Second League saw a turnaround in the team, finishing second to Sporting Markstad to assure promotion to the First League after a three-year absence.
