Architecture[]

Grijzestad's courthouse was originally located in Grijzestad's Old Town, but due to extensive damage, it was decided to build a new one in the U-Stad district. Work began in 1954, but flaws in the original plans resulted in its collapse in 1955. Architect Tomas Haček was hired to build a new one and his massive, though controversial construction (completed in 1962) sets the tone for most of the buildings here.
