Henry "Hank" Harlow, CD (born on November 20, 1977) is a Brunanter former footballer who last played for First League club Charlestown FC in his hometown.

Career

Club career

Having risen through the youth academy at the Grijzestad University, Harlow began his career with Grijzestad University S.C. and was with them until 2001.

In 2001 2. Liga club FC Pieter II announced the signing of Harlow at the age of 23, after being spotted by a scout and impressing staff during a trial. In the Sint-Anders based club he proved he was capable at that level wearing the number one shirt. Manager Nick Wilkins described him as "a naturally-talented player".

On 11 August 2008 Harlow joined new-found Charlestown FC, based in his hometown, after the two clubs agreed on a compensation package for the keeper. He was immediately handed the number one jersey. Harlow clinched promotion to the 1st league in 2010 and was named the Charlestown FC Player of the Year.

Harlow remained Charlestown FC's starting goalkeeper until the summer of 2017, when he retired from playing football, aged 39.

National team

Harlow's talent was spotted by then-coach Jerzy Kazek, who called him up for a friendly in June 1997. Despite putting on a good performance in his early start, he was overshadowed by Amadeus Kunter, one year older and Brunant's undisputed starter. A rather inexperienced Harlow was called up to the national squad for the 2000 World Football Championship by Roberto Bracciale. His only start was a game versus Luxembourg; Brunant scored three goals but Harlow let in two rather easy shots as Brunant edged their was past the Luxembourgeois.

After the tournament Harlow was called up to a couple of friendlies, where he put on impressive performances and stopped 2 penalties in one match. Following this, it was agreed by the national team that he would rotate with Kunter, and he did so in WFC 2002. But, Harlow's position was threatened by the emergence of Peter Boesman, who played for Zenit in Russia. Harlow still played in most friendlies, but for WFC 2004 it was announced that coach Will Branson would take Kunter and Boesman.

For 2008 both Kunter and Harlow were left out of that year's tournament, in favor of Boesman and Anthony Elteman. After this his only appearance was in an unofficial friendly against St. Marks Koningstad, in November 2008. Soon after he announced his retirement from international football.

Personal life

Harlow married Sally Jordan in Charles Town's St. Charles's Church in May 2001. Together they have three children: Mason (b. 2002), Millie (b. 2004) and Chris (b. 2008).

Harlow is interested in horse racing.
