Marianne Lucia de Scheper (born 21 October 1956) is a Brunanter politician and an important figure in Drenthe's politics. De Scheper has been the mayor of the city since 2004 and between 1996 and 2000.

She married former Central Bank of Brunant President Herman Gottstein (born 1946) in 1981. They have four children: Philipp (1983), Miriam (1985), Andreas (1990) and Elena (1993).

Biography[]

Marianne de Scheper was born in Drenthe in 1956 to a Brunanter father and a Portuguese mother. De Scheper was first elected mayor in 1996, serving until 2000. In 2004, she was elected again and has been re-elected in 20082012 and 2016. De Scheper is formally an independent, but has been a past supporter of the Centre Democrats (though never a member). In 2012, she ran in a coalition with A Better Brunant and was eventually chosen again as mayor as a compromise candidate by the Green Party, Christian Democratic Union and ABB.
