Martha Campbell

Martha Campbell in the House of Representatives

Martha Campbell (born 8 November 1961) is Brunanter politician. She is currently serving in the city council of Niesburg and the House of Representatives as a member of the Christian Democratic Union.


Born and raised in Niesburg, Campbell studied history at the Royal University of Koningstad.

Campbell joined the Centre Democrats in 1985 and was elected to the Niesburg city council in 1989. She was re-elected in 1993, but gave up her seat in 1994 upon her election to the House of Representatives. Campbell was house lader for the CD from 1998-2001.

In May 2001, she succeeded Elisabeth Horst as Minister of Cultural Affairs, a position she held in both the first and the second Michels cabinets until 2005.

In May 2005, Campbell was elected the mayor of Niesburg. She had been a city councillor again since 2003. She lost the 2009 municipal elections to Drake Schatzhoven, but has seated in the city council since then.

From 2009-2013, Campbell served as cultural affairs minister again in the consecutive Helms and Wostor I cabinets. Upon the dissolution of the CD in 2012, Campbell joined the Christian Democratic Union.

Campbell has been CDU house lader since September 2018.
